Cindy was born October 17, 1954 to James and Evelyn McCauley in Des Moines Iowa. She passed away peacefully on July 26th at the age of 69 at Iowa Methodist Hospital.
Cindy grew up in Runnels Iowa and attended South East Polk high school graduating in 1973. After high school she attended Des Moines Area Community College and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her passion was working in home healthcare, providing care and support for many families along the way.
In 1993 she met Mike, and they were married on June 29th 1996. They enjoyed many years together traveling and snow birding to Florida while coming back to Iowa in the spring to camp host at several different parks in Polk County. The last 3 years they resided back in Iowa full time, and continued to camp host at Thomas Mitchell Park.
Cindy is survived by her husband Michael Cox, son Jimmy Meek, daughter Michelle Cox-Ouverson (Troy), daughter Kristine Cox (Eli), daughter Teri Wood (Bill), sister Linda Edwards (Randy), brother James McCauley, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and fur baby Toby.
Preceded in death by parents James and Evelyn McCauley, brothers Mick Astley, brother Bob Astley. and several loved fur babies.
Cindy's life will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to Polk County Conservation in Cindy's name. A memorial item will be placed in one of the many parks that she enjoyed spending time.
