Gael E. Doane, 86, of Grinnell, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at his home with family by his side.
Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the PALS and sent in care of Cox-Smith Funeral and Cremation Service, PO Box 163, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Gael was born Mar. 17, 1938, at home near Kellogg to Jettison and Alle Jenece (Iosbaker) Doane. He attended Lynnville-Sully School. Aug. 29, 1959, he married Linda Vieth in Lynnville. He proudly served his country in the Navy. Gael worked at Donaldson’s for 41 years, retiring in 2000.
He enjoyed hunting squirrels, deer, and his favorite, pheasants. Camping, trapping, fishing, and gardening were some of his pastimes. Gael had a knack for his whit and wisdom that will be missed.
He will be remembered by his wife Linda of Grinnell; children Becky McDaniel and Bud (Kristy) Doane, all of Grinnell; four grandchildren; three great-grand-children; brother Gary (Laurie) Adams of Caldwell, ID; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Cat (she followed him everywhere).
Gael was preceded in death by his parents and a brother William Adams.
