November 14, 1961 ~ November 24, 2024 (age 63)Timothy Van Brogen, 63, of Colfax, died Sunday, November 24, 2024, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Palo Alto Cemetery, followed by a reception at the First Christian Church in Newton. Memorials in Tim’s name can be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton or can be brought to the service. Please make checks payable to Les Van Brogen.
Tim, the son of Donald and Jean (Miller) Van Brogen, was born November 14, 1961, in Pella. He grew up in rural Newton and was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Tim was united in marriage with Cheryl Patterson on May 26, 1993, in Newton. Tim worked for the Iowa DOT for over 25 years, doing road construction, driving a road grader and plowing snow. Prior to that, he spent several years working in the restaurant industry. Tim enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and anything that would keep his hands busy. He was very good making things, especially with his laser printer.
Tim is survived by his brothers: Danny (Rhonda) Van Brogen of Reasnor, Gary (Deb) Van Brogen of Newton, Daryl (Pam) Van Brogen of Sully, and Les (Brenda) Van Brogen of Newton; his 3 grandsons, Robert, Brandon, and Dakota Allen; 2 great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl; and his daughter, Amanda Allen.
