Carolyn Knight, the daughter of Damon P. and Mildred Patrice (Hennon) Dixon was born July 1, 1931, in Newton Iowa. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School with a class of 1949.

On July 22, 1949, Carolyn was united in marriage with Donald Knight. She dedicated her life to her husband and family. Carolyn was a kind warmhearted, fun, loving lady a wonderful mother and grandma and will be greatly missed. She loved traveling with her family and music. Carolyn was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton. She devoted herself to children’s ministry. She loved Jesus and wanted to share Him with everyone over the years. She was a youth leader, taught children’s Sunday school for 50 years and gave neighborhood Good News Clubs, kid’s parades and block circuses for the children. She always gave everyone a loving look and a beautiful smile. She loved to hear others laugh and participated in many a joke and much fun. Carolyn was full of joy and she loved all.

Carolyn died June 26, 2024, at Park Center in Newton Iowa. She was 92 years old. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, on August 29, 2005; brother, Robert Dixon and sister, Dolores Reynolds.

Those left to honor Carolyn‘s memory include her son Steve (Diane) Knight, her daughters, Jolinda (Marlin) Keller and Julie (Jay) Leanhart; her 11 grandchildren; her 26 great grandchildren; her longtime friend, David Ratliff and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM to service time, at the church. Memorials may be designated to the Jasper County Christmas Lighting Fund or to First Baptist Church and maybe left at the church or at Pence Reese Funeral Home.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Alisha Stock and to the staff at Willowbrook for their longtime, loving and tender care.
