Margaret L. Thompson, 80, of 200 S. 8th Ave. E. died of heart failure Sunday, June 29, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at l0 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Newton with the Rev. Howard Vrankin officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Memorials will be accepted in her name.
The daughter of William and Marie (Schnathorst) Eilert, she was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Jasper County. She was a 1940 graduate of Newton Senior High School. Mrs. Thompson was employed by Thombert Inc. in Newton and retired in 1980. She also worked for Edward D. Jones for four years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Candice Thompson of Newton and Nancy and Stephen McGrew of Emerson; three grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Rinehart of Monroe; and three brothers, Roy Eilert of Newton, Wayne Eilert of Kellogg and Larry Eilert of Wenatchee, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Debra Jo and a brother.
