Sharon Joyce Hjortshoj
February 28, 1948 - April 16, 2024

Sharon Joyce Hjortshoj, age 76 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at The Cottages in Pella. Memorial services will be held Monday, June 24, 2024 at 10:00 am at the Monroe Methodist Church. Burial will take place at Silent City Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the burial back at the church with a luncheon. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Bill and Darlene Joyce (Ballard) Karr, Sharon was born on February 28, 1948 in Cordova, Iowa. She graduated from Monroe High School. On January 22, 2966, she was united in marriage to John Raymond Hjortshoj. Sharon worked as a Financial Administrator at the City of Ames for many years. She enjoyed crafting and was an avid quilter. She also enjoyed music and played the piano.

Those left to honor her memory include her father, Bill; two sisters, Susan Jean (Tracy) Swift and Jennie Rae Baker; two sons, Chad Hjortshoj and Matt Hjortshoj; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Jeremy) Peterson, Andrew (Marthe) Hjortshoj, and Eden Hjortshoj and two great grandchildren, Preceding her in death were her mother, Darlene; husband, John in 2023 and an infant son, Shawn.
