October 17, 1942 ~ June 12, 2024 (age 81)

Dennis Lee Brindle, 81, of Newton died on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Newton Village. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 21, at the funeral home. Memorials in Dennis’ name may be left at the funeral home.

Dennis, the son of Robert Miller and Martha Elizabeth (Hawkins) Brindle, was born on October 17, 1942 in Marshalltown. He grew up in Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1962. On April 3, 1964, Dennis was united in marriage with Sheila Uchytil in Boone. They made their home in Marshalltown, Cedar Falls/Waterloo, and Grundy Center before moving to Newton in 1976. During that time Dennis worked at a draftsman for several different companies. In the 1980’s, Dennis started and operated Cardinal Trophy and Awards. Following that, Dennis sold cars for local car dealerships, beginning at Lauterbach’s, and then worked for Hanson Directory. After his retirement from Hanson’s, Dennis worked part-time in the Hy-Vee Produce Department for 17 years, retiring in early 2024. He was very proud of his skill in selling ribs to his valued customers at Hy-Vee. Dennis was a member of the Elks Lodge and the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing snooker, pickleball, Golden Tee and golf. Dennis also liked to go bowling and fishing.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Sheila Brindle of Newton; daughters, Kari (Phil) Bentzinger of Lawrence, Kansas and Stephanie Fenton (Chris Crenshaw) of Newton; his grandchildren, Tayler (Sam) Shill, Emma Bentzinger, Ethan Bentzinger, Chris Crenshaw, and Myah Crenshaw; and great-grandchildren, Vivian, Everett, and Ivy Shill. He was preceded in death by his parents.
