Carolyn Lee Bell, 82, of Newton, passed away on Friday morning, May 24, 2024, at Tradition Memory Care of Newton.

Carolyn, the daughter of Carol Bruce and Helen Lucile (Vance) Curtis, was born March 27, 1942, in Newton. She attended and graduated from the Newton Senior High School, Class of 1960, and later attended AIB College in Des Moines.

Carolyn enjoyed sharing her life with her son Todd and loved time with her family and friends. She was employed as a secretary/bookkeeper for area businesses, such as the Vernon Company and Rock Communications. She was a member of the Newton First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation with the family and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Pence~Reese Funeral Home, in Newton, is in charge of the arrangements.

Burial will be in the Palo Alto Cemetery, rural Newton.

Those left to honor Carolyn’s memory include her son D. Todd (Jayne) Bell; her daughters: Denise (Phil) Hughes and Diane Bell; her three grandchildren; two and one on the way, great-grandchildren; a brother Bruce (Bev) Curtis; and her many extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Carolyn’s family or a charity of your choosing.
