Bouma, Beulah “Boots” - 1924-2018

Beulah “Boots” Bouma, 94, of Montezuma and formerly of Lynnville, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Montezuma Specialty Care.
A graveside service and burial was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville with Pastor Doug Tiffany, Care Initiatives Hospice Chaplain, West Des Moines, officiating. Pallbearers were Chris and Reese Bouma, James, Curt, and Colton Richardson, and Gary Vasseau. Honorary bearers were Giovanni, Colby, Liliela, and Zach Richardson, Darin Boyd, Briley Bouma, Jessica and Gunnar Ross.
Memorials may be designated to the Montezuma Specialty Care or Care Initiatives Hospice, 7055 Vista Drive, West Des Moines, IA 50266; and condolences may be shared with her family online at smithfh.com.
Boots was born June 14, 1924, in Davenport, the daughter of Earl and Louise Smith Isobaker. Her family moved to Grinnell when she was four years old, where she was raised and attended school.
Dec. 7, 1941, (Pearl Harbor Day), she was united in marriage with Clifford Bouma in Kahoka, MO. The couple made their home in Lynnville, and she was employed with Evans Grocery Store in Lynnville for 18 years. During her life, she had lived in Lynnville, Newton, New Sharon, Grinnell, and Montezuma prior to being a resident at the Montezuma Specialty Care in 2014. And, during this span she was employed with several local restaurants.
Boots was a member of the Grandmothers Club and held a passion for latch hook. She loved music and playing cribbage and bingo. She had a great sense of humor!
Boots is survived by her children, Dennis (Kathy) Bouma of New Sharon and Sandra (Ray) Cornell of Montezuma; four grandchildren, Christopher Bouma, Lisa Boyd, Jim Richardson, and Curt Richardson; and eight great-grandchildren, Colton, Giovanni, Colby, Liliela, and Zach Richardson, Reese and Briley Bouma, and Jessica Ross. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 1978; her parents; two sisters, Alle-Jenece Adams and Earlene Pearson; and three brothers, Erwin, Ercell, and Ergo Iosbaker.
