Memorial services celebrating the life of Ramona Kay Boertje, 71, of Highland Village, TX, will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Mar. 15, 2024, in Faith Chapel, Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, TX, and at 1 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 23, at Lynnville Heart of Worship Church.
Ramona was born Jan. 24, 1953, to Robert and Barbara Sexton in Oskaloosa and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at home with family in Highland Village, TX.
Ramona worked in several doctors' offices in the medical billing field, but her passion and priorities were always her faith, family, and friends. She was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church for over 20 years and a prior member of First Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA.
She was a devoted wife and homemaker to Larry, her husband of 52 years. They were blessed with a son Adam Boertje and wife Mary, and a daughter Shelley Scripture, along with six grandsons. She and Larry lived in Iowa, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. Regardless of where she lived, she never met a stranger, was always able to strike up a conversation with anyone, and made new friends easily.
Ramona was from a family of sports and loved cheering on her children and grandchildren. She loved attending and hearing about all of their many sporting events and special activities. She also enjoyed traveling and seeing the beauty of God's creation. She, along with her husband, family, and friends, took many vacations/trips to beaches, Colorado, and the Northeast/Northwest United States. In addition to sightseeing, she also enjoyed horseback and ATV/UTV trail riding during her life.
Ramona loved with a selfless love and with all of her heart. She never drew attention to herself, but rather always focused on the needs of others. She will be deeply missed by the many people whose hearts and souls she touched throughout the course of her life.
Ramona was preceded in death by her parents and brother Joel Sexton.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving spouse Larry Boertje, son Adam Boertje and wife Mary, daughter Shelley Scripture, grandsons Tyler, Ryan, and Logan Boertje, and Connor and wife Abigail, Cameron, and Coleman Scripture, brother Mike Sexton and wife Mary, twin sister Rhonda and husband Pastor Tom Pool, and sister-in-law Kathy Sexton, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.
