October 30, 1951 ~ March 31, 2024 (age 72)

Rob J. Snook, 72, of Newton, died Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his home in Newton. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Rob’s name (checks made payable to Debi Snook) can be sent to the family or to the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.

Rob, the son of Burton Ellis and Willadean (Lewellen) Snook, was born October 30, 1951, in Newton. He was a 1970 graduate of Newton High School, where he excelled in basketball and track. Rob had owned the Snook Inn, taking over the business from his father and grandfather. He also worked for Hesse’s Men’s Wear and later owned Rob’s Clothing in Oskaloosa. Rob retired from Hanson Directory after working as an executive for many years. Rob was united in marriage with his longtime partner, Debi (McGrath) Provin on August 8, 2020, in Newton.

Rob was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Izaak Walton League and could often be found there or at Fore Seasons enjoying a drink and talking with friends. He and Debi enjoyed traveling together and going to Prairie Meadows. Rob also enjoyed boating, skiing, camping, and looked forward to March Madness every year.

Those left to honor Rob’s memory include his wife, Debi of Newton; children: Jamie (Andrea) Snook, Susan Snook, Kelley (Brent) Skelley, TJ (Kelsey) Snook; step-children, Emily (Shawn) Barrett and Ryan Provin; his grandchildren: Tiffany (Nick) Sherwood, Christopher Snook, Pierce Snook, Eden, Abel, and Naomi Skelley, Elowyn and Ellis Snook, Kaylee, Gannon, and Nolan Barrett, and Remi Provin; his sister, Terry (John) Shaw; and nieces, Alex (Eric) Lindholm and Emily Simons. Rob was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
