Mrs. Foreman Dies in Chicago; Rites in Newton
Mrs. Harley Foreman, 55, relative of several Newton persons and formerly a resident of here, died Wednesday at 10:40 o’clock at a Chicago hospital.
The body is being returned to Newton for funeral service Sunday at 2:30 o’clock at the Morgan Funeral home with interment in the Newton Union cemetery.
Mrs. Foreman had been in failing health for the past three years.
She was born in Jasper county on a farm north of Newton and about 20 years ago moved to Chicago. She was the daughter of Wilson Swihart.
Surviving are her husband, a sister, Mrs. Blyde Hillis of Chicago, a daughter, Mrs. Paul Klein of Chicago and a grandson, Richard Klein.
She was a daughter-in-law of Mrs. John Foreman, a sister-in-law of Mrs. Stanley Eldred and Mrs. Jay Wormley all of Newton.

Mrs. Foreman Rites Held here Sunday Afternoon
Funeral services for Mrs. Harley Foreman, 55, former Newton resident were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Morgan Funeral home by the Rev. Ross Mills of Green Mountain, Ia. Interment was in the Newton Union cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray McMurray, Edgar Hotchkiss, C. A. Peck, Dr. O. N. Green, George Smith and Ronald McPherren. Those arranging the flowers were Mrs. C. A. Peck, Mrs. Edgar Hotchkiss, Mrs. Ray McMurray. Mary Beth Mills, accompanied by Dorothy Talbot, sang “How Lovely Are Their Dwellings” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.”
Born in Newton
Sarah Augusta Swihart, daughter of Wilson and Alice I. Swihart, was born in Newton Jan. 22, 1886. She attended Armstrong school, and was graduated from the Newton Normal college with the class of 1904. She taught in the rural schools.
On April 26, 1905, she was united in marriage with Harley J. Foreman and to this union was born one daughter, Wilma Gertrude, now Mrs. Paul Klein.
In 1921 she moved with her family to Chicago where she resided until her death Feb. 19, 1941.
Confirmed Lutheran
In early childhood she was confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran church in Newton and after her marriage transferred her membership to the Methodist church in Newton and then to the Roger Park Methodist church to Chicago, Ill.
she was a member of the Margaret Rebekah lodge of Newton.
Surviving are her husband, a sister, Mrs. Blyde Hillis of Chicago, a daughter, Mrs. Paul Klein of Chicago, and a grandson, Richard Klein.
She was a daughter-in-law of Mrs. John Foreman, a sister-in-law of Mrs. Stanley Eldred and Mrs. Jay Wormley of Newton.
