Mary E. Bruce Dies Saturday At Glenwood, Ia.
Mary Ethelyn Bruce, 37, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bruce of near Newton, died Saturday evening at 9:00 o’clock at the state hospital at Glenwood, Ia. She had been at the school since 1908.
Funeral services for Miss Bruce will be c conducted Tuesday at 2 o’clock at the Murdoch Funeral home by the Re v. W. W. Johnson, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Interment will be in the Sugar Grove cemetery.
Miss Bruce was born April 9, 1903, northeast of Prairie City.
Surviving are her parents and three brothers, Glen and Earl of Newton, Ronald at home and a sister, Mrs. August Allen of Des Moines.

Rites Held for Mary E. Bruce
Funeral services for Mary Ethelyn Bruce, 37, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bruce of Newton, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Murdoch Funeral home by the Rev. W. W. Johnson, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Interment was in the Sugar Grove cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl Bruce, Glenn Bruce, August Allen, August Laskewitz, George Selbher and Leslie Parks.
Flowers were arranged by Mrs. George Selbher, Mrs. John Selbher and Mrs. Percy Helphrey.
Mrs. F. E. McClean, accompanied by Mrs. R. L. Jackson at the organ, sang “No disappointment in Heaven” and “No Night There”.
Mary Ethelyn Bruce, daughter of Charles and Alice Bruce, was born April 9, 1903, on a farm two and one-half miles northeast of Prairie City, Ia.
She died Jan. 25, 1941, at the age of 37 years, 9 months and 16 days. Her death was due to influenza.
She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bruce, three brothers, Glenn, Earl and Ronald all of Newton, one sister, Mrs. August Allen of Des Moines and three nieces and two nephews.
