Mrs. Charles H. Barton Succumbs At University Of Iowa Hospital
Mrs. Charles H. Barton, 36, died this morning at the State University of Iowa hospital where she had been a patient the past ten weeks. Suffering from a rare blood infection for the past three years, she was entered at the State hospital five times in the past year.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parker, she was born Aug. 1, 1904, at Otley, Ia., and came to Newton when a young girl. She was wed May 28, 1921 to Charles H. Barton and to this union were born seven children. One daughter preceded her in death in 1936.
Surviving are her husband and six children ranging from 2 years to 19 years old: Mrs. Floyd Carley, Marjorie, Lois, twins Louise and Lucille, and Marilyn. She had one grandchild.
Also surviving are four brothers and two sisters, Dorsay Parker of New York, Delmar and Lawrence Parker of Kansas and Charles of Des Moines, Mrs. Andrew Van Gorp of Lynnville and Mrs Ed McDaniel of Newton.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Funeral arrangements were being made this afternoon.

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles H. Barton, 36, who died Thursday morning at the State University of Iowa hospital at Iowa City, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Morgan Funeral home with interment following in the Newton Union cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles H. Barton, 36, were conducted at the Morgan Funeral home Saturday by Rev. W. H. Betz, pastor of the Community Heights Methodist church. Interment was in the Newton Union cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Martz, R. I. Woody, Roy C. Hipsley, Ernest Carlson, John Schroyer and Vernon Bale.
Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Merritt Albee and Mrs. Ira Ray.
Koksma Sings
Frank Koksma accompanied by his wife sang “No Disappointment In Heaven”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and Jesus Lover of My Souls”.
Florence Pearl Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parker, was born at Otley, Ia., on August 1, 1904, and died at the University of Iowa hospital at Iowa City, March 13, 1941, aged 36 years, 7 months and 12 days.
She move with her parents to Newton in 1912 and was married May 28, 1920 to Charles H. Barton of Newton. To this union were born seven children – Mrs. Floyd Carley of Newton, and Marjorie, Lois, Louise, Lucille, Charlotte and Marilyn, all at home. Charlotte died in 1936
Others Surviving
Besides the husband and children, also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Fred Parker of Newton and seven brothers and sisters: Dorsey Parker of Lynbrook, N. Y., Lawrence and Delmar of Junction City, Kan., Charles of Green Mountain, Ia., Mrs. Andrew Van Gorp of Lynnville and Mrs. Ed McDaniel of Newton. There also is one stepson, Charles Barton of Newton, one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Barton united with the Baptist church of Newton in childhood. She has been sick nearly three years and spent the last ten weeks in the hospital.
