Charles A. Danner, 55, of 308 E. 8th St. N. died of a heart attack Saturday, March 29, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Chaplain Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Lester and Myrtle Dyke White Sr., he was born Dec. 5, 1947, in Oskaloosa. He has been a resident of Newton since 1996 and was a truck driver. He worked for several trucking companies.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Carroll Sparks of Newton, Mary and Bob Winkelman of Bartlesville, Okla., and Tara Jo and Ernesto Castaneda of Des Moines; six grandchildren; his mother, Myrtle White of Garden Grove; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Calvin Deaton of Garden Grove, Jennie and David Johnson of Grimes, and Penny and Carl Hawk of Garden Grove; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Danner of Leon and Lester and Juanita White of Garden Grove; three step-sisters, Mary Shirley of Ottumwa Maxine Herbst of Artesia Calif., and Phyllis Mills of Centerville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and maternal and paternal grandparents.
