Dale Ernest Clubb, 81, of 920 E. 10th 5t. S., died of cancer Wednesday, April 9, at USA Health Care Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. David Wendel, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home until 7:30 p.m. The family will be present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or in his name.

The son of Charley and Leona Martha Allen-Clubb, he was born July 17, 1921, in Harper. He married Claudine Schulteiss in 1944. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked in the sheet metal department of the Maytag Company and retired in 1985.

On Sept. 5, 1970, Mr. Clubb married Thelma Mae Dewey in Omaha, Neb. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton, was a past member of RSVP, the Local 997 UAW, Newton Moose Lodge and the Newton VFW. He was a resident of Newton since 1950 and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Susan of Melbourne, Dan of Waterloo, Dennis and Bonnie of Independence and Doug of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three step-sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Foster of Newton, Michael and Diann Foster of Earlham and Steve and Kathy Foster of Madison, Ala.; two daughters, Shirley Shields of Liberty, Mo., and Darla Clubb of Mt. Pleasant; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Bob Van Maaren of Monroe; 25 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Velda Clubb of Des Moines and Ronald and Bette Clubb of Clintonville, Wis.; and three Sisters, Avis Bunnell of New London, Wis., Rebecca Bunnell of New London, Wis., and Doris McConnell of Rochester, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, a step-son, James Foster, a granddaughter, five brothers, Lester, Clifford, Charles and Robert Clubb and Don Mason; and two sisters, Leona Pauline Nelson and Alma Clubb.
