LITCHFIELD, Ill. - Charles Donald "Don" Breckenridge, 81, of Litchfield, Ill., formerly of Newton, died Wednesday, April 2, at Litchfield Health Care Center in Litchfield, Ill.

A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton with the Rev. Dr. Dwayne Skidmore of Reasnor officiating. The. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield, Ill., and Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton are handling arrangements.

There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Hospice in Litchfield.

The son of Milton and Agnes (Howell) Breckenridge, he was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Newton.

He owned and operated the Allis Chalmers Implement dealership in Newton. He also worked for the Vernon Company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lynnville and Lynnville Lions Club.

He married Dorothy Jean Hulse on Aug. 25, 1945, in Troy, Kan. She died Dec. 29, 1992 and Mr. Breckenridge moved to Litchfield, Ill., in July of 2000.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and T.J. Breckenridge of Collinsville, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Carl O'Roake Litchfield, Ill.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Breckenridge of Leon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Sue Bunn-Blackwell, a brother, Carroll "Red" Breckenridge and a sister, Berdine Halteman.
