November 11, 1951 ~ December 31, 2023 (age 72)

Larry D. Lint, 72, of Newton died on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at MercyOne Newton. A celebration of life will be held Friday, March 22, 2024, time and location to be determined. Memorials in Larry’s name (checks payable to RoxAnne Lint) may be left at the funeral home.

Larry, the son of Don and Betty (Heltzel) Lint, was born on November 11, 1951 in Newton. He was a lifelong resident of Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1970. In June of 2014, Larry was united in marriage with his wife, RoxAnne, in Newton. Later in life, Larry went on to attend Indian Hills Community College for his truck driving CDL. After graduation, Larry joined the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1973. When he returned, he worked at a variety of places including as a police officer for the city of Newton, at Dealer’s Warehouse, McKleeven Lumber, for Mike Brook's Trucking doing over-the-road trucking, and most recently in retail.

Larry was a member of American Legion Post #111, Isaak Walton League, the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, the National Turkey Federation, and the First United Methodist Church in Newton. He enjoyed several mission trips with the church. Additionally, he went on 2 Freedom Flights, one in 2011 with his father, and the other in 2013. Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed anything outdoors and shared that time, especially on hunts, with his sons and grandkids, as well as with the groups he was involved in. He also enjoyed weekend trips with his wife where they travelled to visit various freedom rocks.

Larry is survived by his wife, RoxAnne (Bretz) Lint; his children Katie Lint (Brian Anderson), and Brandon Lint; his step-children, Nicholaas VanderLeest (Mindi Schrader), Travis VanderLeest (Lacy Lear), and Shawn (Hollianna) VanderLeest; grandchildren, Kaden, Logan, Lainey, Sebastian, KJ, Cheyenne, Chelsea, Grayson, Shay, AJ, Chevelle, and Deacon; siblings, Dennis Lint of Ankeny, and Rick (Helen) Lint of California; mother of Larry's children, Karen Ealy of Springfield, MO; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Patty Bretz.
