Maxine Udelhoven
July 1, 1933 ~ December 21, 2023 (age 90)

Maxine Udelhoven, 90, of Newton, died on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Altoona Nursing Home and Rehab in Altoona, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 12 p.m. A private family burial will be held. Memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Wesley Life Hospice can be left at the funeral home.

Maxine, the daughter of Leo and Alice (Schroder) Udelhoven, was born July 1, 1933, in Plattville, Wisconsin. She lived primarily in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1951. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Management from Upper Iowa University in 1994. Maxine worked as an administrative assistant and internal auditor for several companies throughout her career including, most recently, Our Savior Lutheran Church, The Vernon Company, and several years at the Jasper County Care Facility.

Maxine was very involved in the Newton community and was a member of many boards and committees. These included the Iowa Sculptural Festival Board and Chair of the Silent Auction, the Jasper County Concert Association, Newton Main Street, Maytag Bowl, and many other community efforts. Maxine also loved to travel and enjoyed a memorable trip on the Queen Elizabeth II.

Maxine is survived by her children, Carol Twedt of Newton and Mark Jackson of Newton; grandchildren, Jeromy (Tammy) Van Baale of Grinnell, Machelle (Jan) Vos of Newton, and Paloma (Nick) Keith of Reasnor; great-grandchildren, Ali Follmuth of Omaha, NE, Jeromy Van Baale of Kansas, Olivia Crum of Newton, and Leona Keith of Reasnor; brother, Don (Karen) Udelhoven; her daughter-in-law, Laurel Axtell; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Jackson; brothers, Dale and David Udelhoven; and husbands, Glen Jackson and Edwin Frahm.
