November 12, 1937 - November 12, 2023

Betty Arlene (Van Norden) Van Ryswyk, age 86 of Prairie City, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Newton Village in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial will follow at Waveland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 2:00 - 7:00 pm at First Reformed Church in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to the First Reformed Church or Newton Village. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

Betty Arlene Van Norden was born on November 12,1937 in rural Sully, the daughter of Arie and Bertha (Vande Voort) Van Norden. She attended Sully Christian grade school and graduated from Sully High School in 1956. She made her confession of faith at the Sully Christian Reformed church.

On July 3, 1956, Betty was united in marriage to Arthur Dale Van Ryswyk and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, Debra Ruth and Terri Rae. Betty was able to stay at home and care for their family. They made their home in Prairie City for 62 years. Betty was a faithful wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Prairie City First Reformed Church, where she enjoyed teaching children’s Sunday school classes, serving as church librarian and participating in women’s ministries. She also loved the old time hymns and was a prayer warrior.

and Terri (Meridith Van Zee) Van Ryswyk. Also surviving is a sister, Wanda Van Heukelom, brother, Tunis (Kathy) Van Norden and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Betty in death were her parents, and husband, Arthur in 2018.
