Gary Alan Wood, age 61 of Colfax, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at The Comfort House in Pella. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will take place at Colfax Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed in Gary’s name to the funeral home and checks can be made out to his son, Gary Wood. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Gary E. and Virginia (Owens) Wood, Gary was born on August 30, 1962, in Long Beach, California. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1980. Gary loved his family and was so proud of his grandchildren Shelby and Cooper. He was a very giving person and would drop what he was doing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was passionate about wildlife, cars and photography. He enjoyed just getting out and going for a cruise. He spent many hours taking photos of his nieces and nephews at their extracurricular activities, his camera was always ready at every family function. Gary was a Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. He loved traveling with his son to different stadiums to see the Pirates play. He also loved his Iowa Hawkeyes, he was just a all-around sports fan.

Those left to honor his memory include his son, Gary Alan (Anissa) Wood II; two grandchildren, Shelby and Cooper; his mother, Virginia Wood; siblings, Carol (Brian) Norwood, Bonnie (Brent) McWilliams, and Richard Wood as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Gary in death was his father and his fiancé Reta Elam.
