Emilee, the daughter of Thomas and Billie (McBeth) Hoen, was born on November 15, 1989, in Des Moines. She grew up in Newton and Kellogg and graduated from Newton High School in 2008. She continued her education, completing her undergraduate studies at Des Moines Area Community College and Grandview and then received her Master's in Psychology from Grandview. Emilee worked as a case manager for Iowa Total Care. Her area of focus was working with individuals affected by the Brain Waiver and Elderly Act. Helping her clients was her passion as was evident with the large case load, she would take on and her efficiency in getting her clients exactly what they needed.

Emilee enjoyed crafting, going kayaking, gardening and hiking. She was always up for any adventure whether it be going to a garage sale or taking a trip. Emilee also loved to play with her kids and hang out with friends. She was notorious for her afternoon “snoozers”, even the ones that were supposed to be 20 minutes but turned into two hours. Emilee was full of life with a contagious smile and will be missed by her entire family.

Emilee is survived by her children, Maya Shrestha, Ruby Harrelson, and Nora Harrelson; significant other, Matthew Chester of Mitchellville and his children, Kadon Chester, Matthew Chester Jr., and Karson Chester; her mother, Billie Hoen of Newton; siblings, Kurt (Jennifer) Hoen of Newton, Mallorie Hoen of Mitchellville, and Macie Hoen of Mitchellville; maternal grandmother, Martha McBeth of Newton; “little sister”, Anna Perry of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
