On August 15th, 2023, Marna Caroleen Cogley-Fox passed away peacefully, where she was soon greeted by many loving arms and warm embraces. Marna was born on September 8th, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters born to Dr. Keith and Caroleen (Shifflet) Cogley. Marna grew up on the farm, with many brothers and sisters to look out for her. She participated in 4-H, volleyball, basketball, and track. Marna graduated from Colfax-Mingo High School in 1988. She then went on to pursue a degree in Nursing, graduating from the nursing program at DMACC in 1993 as a Registered Nurse. She went on to work as a nurse for almost 30 years where she treated patients as her own family. A career in nursing was a great fit for Marna because caring for others and showing compassion came second nature to her.
Marna married the love of her life, Brant Fox, on October 16th, 1999, at the Presbyterian Church in Colfax, Iowa. She had several hobbies that both she and her husband could share together: gardening, cooking, canning, thrifting, selling morel mushrooms, spending time with friends and family, and caring for her many beloved pets. We will all miss Marna’s loving, generous, and spunky personality. Her memory will live on in all our hearts and also in the way we instill her kind-hearted spirit into everything we do. She will live on in the way we continue to love and find joy in all things.
Survivors include: husband, Brant Fox, brothers; Patrick (Jennifer) Cogley and Brian (Angie) Cogley, sisters; Kelly Cogley, Megan (Mel) Morrissey, Brenda (John) Probasco, father and mother-in- law, Terry and Pam Fox, brothers and sisters-in-law, Brad (Heather) Fox, Tim (Jenny) Fox, nieces and nephews; Austin (Pauline) Redman, Josie Redman, Jennifer (Doug) Engle, Brandon (Caitlyn Clair) Cogley, McKenzie (Koy) Vander Leest, Colton (Emily Hawk) Probasco, Madison (Colin) Heitshusen, Dalton (Clarabell) Probasco, Kyle Cogley, Catherine Cogley, Andrew Cogley, Cameron Fox, Carson Fox, Riley Fox, Nick Fox, Maddie Fox, and Charlotte Fox, and five great-nieces and nephews, Tucker Engle, Cody Engle, Kasen Vander Leest, Layton Heitshusen, and Jack Probasco. She was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Clara Cogley, Carl and Catherine Shifflet, her parents; Dr. Keith and Caroleen (Shifflet) Cogley, and her brothers, Colin and Shawn Cogley; grandparents, Shibe (Gladys) Lockridge, Frances Fox, Special Aunts and Uncle, Helen Davis, Carolyn Owens, and Joe Tucker.
Always remember to live each day to the fullest, enjoy every moment, and let the people around you know how much you love them. On behalf of the entire family, we would like to thank you for your caring thoughts and compassion, and for fond memories shared of Marna. She was truly a special person with the sweetest soul. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the McKeever Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Colfax Historical Society directly after.
