Lynn, the daughter of Fred P. and Ada W. (Roberts) Diehm, was born May 19, 1943, in Alameda, California. She grew up in rural Newton and was a 1961 graduate of Newton High School. She attended the IBM school in Des Moines in 1961. Lynn married William “Bill” Easterla on December 19, 1962, in Newton. After Bill’s sudden passing, Lynn was united in marriage with Walter “Keith” Auten on October 10, 1965, in Newton.

Lynn worked as a data processor for The Maytag Company, retiring in 2004 after 31 years of service. She later worked part-time at Community Heights Alliance Church. After moving to Bettendorf in 2008, she worked part-time at the Bettendorf Christian Church. She was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved spending time with her family. She was a woman of strong faith and had a talent for communicating with others, writing many letters and notes to her family and friends over the years. She had been a member of the “club” since 1964, made up of some of her high school classmates, and the “Fab 4” in Bettendorf. Lynn was a member of Community Heights Alliance Church and Bettendorf Christian Church. She was also a very proud member of the Texas Tenors Fan Club.
