Pamela J (DeBruyn) Blackledge
November 29, 1951 ~ July 20, 2023 (age 71)

Pamela “Pam” J. (DeBruyn) Blackledge, 71, formerly of Newton, died on Thursday, July 20, 2023, with her family in Texas. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 31, 2023, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to an Animal Rescue League of the Donor’s Choice may be left at the funeral home.

Pam was born on November 29, 1951 at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. She was raised in Newton by her parents, Bud and Liz Rechtenbach and graduated from Newton High School in 1970. On November 10, 1973, Pam was united in marriage with Leslie “Les” Blackledge. Pam worked for Newton Manufacturing for over 43 years, before retiring in the fall of 2014 and moving to Louisiana. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, taking trips to the beach, and making Christmas cookies with her grandkids.

Those left to honor Pam’s memory are her two daughters, Dana (Ken) Grams of Texas and Sara (Brad) Myers of Iowa; three step-daughters, Shelley (Eddie) Lee of Mississippi, Jodi Blackledge of Texas, and Kathy (Wayne) Bassette of Tennessee; step-son, Greg (Mindy) Sisk of Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brothers, Jerry (Tereasa) Rechntenbach of Utah; sister-in-law, Jan Smith of Iowa; four brothers-in-law, Jim Vermillion, Kris Simbro, and Ron Knox, all of Iowa and Leland (Beth) Blackledge of Minnesota; a great-aunt, Sue Toye of Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Les Blackledge; sister, Becky Rechtenbach; five sisters-in-law, Roberta Vermillion, Marvelyn Burke, Juanita Schuey, Barbara Knox, and Shari Simbro; and her great-uncle, Randall “Tuck” Toye.
