April 28, 1930 ~ May 30, 2023 (age 93)

Patricia “Pat” M. Ogden, 93, of Newton died on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Park Centre. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Pat’s name (checks payable to Lori Modlin) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Pat, the daughter of Charles and Edith McConnell, was born on April 28, 1930 in Joplin, Missouri. She grew up in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1949. On January 21, 1949, Pat was united in marriage with Donald Ogden in Ottumwa. They moved to Newton in 1973. Pat sold Mary Kay and Avon for many years. Pat was always a “cool” grandma and enjoyed doing daycare for her daughter, Lori’s children. Her last job before retirement was at Hy-Vee. Pat enjoyed doing aerobics, going on walks, sewing, and baking. After receiving a lawnmower of her liking from Don, she also liked mowing the yard. She also loved all of her dogs.

Pat is survived by her daughters, Debbie Colwell of Albia, Kay Ogden of Boone, and Lori (Galen) Modlin of Newton; grandchildren, Amy (Troy) Hess, April Colwell, Aaron Colwell (Desiree Roberts), Jason (Luci) Ogden, Jen Phelps, Josi Arguello, and Jared (Megan) Modlin; her great-grandchildren, Danielle, Maddison, Mariah, Logan, Dalton, Jaxon, Sebastian, Mirella, Elloisa, Ty, Kamryn, Zayvier, Emersyn, Jackson, and Ronin; and her great-great grandchildren, Hayden, Hunter, Haylee, Kynslee, Ezrah, Harleigh, and one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Ogden; and son-in-law, Ron Colwell.
