Cash Layken Dickerson
May 31, 2013 ~ May 28, 2023 (age 9)

Cash Layken Dickerson, just three days away from his 10th birthday, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his home. A funeral service fit for a Superhero will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Colfax-Mingo High School. The family will greet friends from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, June 4, at the high school. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be designated at a later date to the many organizations and causes that abundantly blessed Cash and his family (checks payable to George or Alisha Dickerson).

Cash, the son of George and Alisha (Farver) Dickerson, was born on May 31, 2013, in Newton. He was welcomed home by his older brother, Cruz. Cash was in the 3rd grade at Colfax-Mingo.

Cash was a true second child and could be the sweetest boy but also had an ornery and playful streak. He loved to touch your face if he was speaking to you, console Cruz if he was upset, and was always a mommy’s boy unless he was at the hospital and then he wanted his dad. His ornery side would show when he would go to a restaurant and say “I’ll take a beer” (root beer) or head butt his dad and declare that he was the “Daddy Bull”. Cash also had a way with words and always came up with the funniest versions of common sayings including “You Don’t Matter” (“you don’t care”), “Getfor” (forget), or “I Am It” (I’m not). He loved wearing his pajamas or even underwear around the house, watching the movie, Zootopia, and the color purple. Cash was friendly to everyone he met. He was so, so brave and strong, just like his favorite Superhero, “The Hulk’.

Cash is survived by his parents George and Alisha Dickerson of Newton; brother, Cruz Dickerson; grandparents, George and Kathy Dickerson and Rod and Tammy Farver; great-grandparents, Jim and Norma Jean Warnock, Barb Dickerson, and Marilyn and Moe Farver; his aunts and uncles, Austin (Natalie) Farver, Chris (Brooke) Farver, Pam Weigle, and Teresa (Jeremy) Homeyer; his cousins, Corbin, Jordyn, and Camden; several great uncles and great aunts; and his many special friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Al and Marilyn Hansen and Leroy Dickerson.

The Dickerson family would like to say a special thank you to Cash’s nurse, Brittany Sielaff, for her wonderful care of Cash the last couple years.
