COLFAX — Paul Yoakum, 90, of Colfax died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Mitchell Village Care Center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Paul E. Yoakum Memorial Fund.

The son of Orvallie and Ethel (McCuen) Yoakum, he was born April 1, 1915, in Jasper County. He attended schools until the eighth grade and then went to work in the coalmines. On July 2, 1938, he married Lucille Thomas. Following his days in the mines, he farmed in the area. He went to work for Winpower in Newton and worked there for 30 years before his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of Mitchellville; five children, Eugene Yoakum of Colfax, Joan (LeRoy) Dinkel of Kansas, Harry (Jane) Yoakum of Elmwood, Ill., Barry (Pam) Yoakum of Newton and Terry (Margaret) Yoakum of Red Oak; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Jane Altes of Knoxville.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and a grandchild.
