Junior Lou “Tyke” Geisler, 78, of the 400 block of Southeast Delaware Avenue, Ankeny, died of cancer Tuesday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical Free Church in Polk City, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Graham Cemetery near Mingo.
Mr. Geisler was born in Steele, N.D., and had lived in the Ankeny area most of his life. He was a retired farmer and a former board member of Enterprise Farmers Elevator.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; a daughter, Karla Knapp of Ankeny; a son, Darrell of Bondurant; two step-daughters, Deb Stokka of Ankeny and Dianne Pittman of Fremont, Calif.; a stepson, Dave Michael of Coppell, Texas; four sisters Nadine Jones of Boone, Leta Parker of Escondido, Calif., Asta Blakley of Des Moines and Verda Homrig of Urbandale; a brother, Milford of Bossier City, La., eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ankeny Funeral Home, where the family will be present form 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
