Madrid – Robert Louis Viers, 78, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be held Saturday, March 29th at 2:00 PM at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Visitation will be Friday, March 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in Maxwell.
Robert was born in Maxwell, Iowa on October 15, 1929, the son of John and Patricia Maxine (Cook) Viers. He served with the U.S. Army Military Police during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Doris Hays on October 31, 1953 in Princeton, Missouri.Robert was an Inspector for John Deere and retired in 1984.
He was a member of the Maxwell Christian Church and a former member of the Crystal Masonic Lodge. He loved to dance, fish, swim, and travel and loved playing with his girls.
Survivors include his wife Doris of Madrid; 2 daughters: Teann Frantz of Des Moines, Iowa and Tammy Viers of Madrid, Iowa; three grandchildren: Shanna, Shelly and Scott Frantz; three great grandchildren: Alyssa, Ali and Paris; and one brother, Bill Viers of Des Moines, Iowa.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert Viers, Jr.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
