Steven Glenn Pinckney, age 64 of Colfax, Iowa, passed away on January 21, 2023. A memorial service to honor Steve’s life will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Sheepgate, a Division of Teen Challenge, in Colfax, Iowa. Following the memorial service, everyone is invited to a time of food and fellowship with the family in the banquet hall in the Sheepgate building. Memorials may be directed to Steve’s children and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of LeGrande and Alice (Gibson) Pinckney, Steve was born on May 10, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School in 1976. Steve was united in marriage on September 22, 1990 to Cathy Pinckney. They later divorced but remained best friends. From a young age, Steve always took an interest in racing. For many years after high school he traveled the United States racing cars, fixing them, and just enjoying time spent with friends in the sport. He was always proud to say that he made a living doing what he loved, racing. Even in his later years, racing fans would recognize Steve and his children by his last name. After his racing career, Steve was a wonderful finish carpenter. He spent years working on all sorts of carpentry projects. Throughout his life, Steve was known for his sense of wit and some iconic one-liners. There was no doubt, he loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Steve spent his final years as the maintenance manager at Sheepgate, a job he was extremely proud of. Steve always loved to tell people about Sheepgate.

Those left to honor Steve’s memory are his children, Shawn (Alyssa) Spragg, Justin (Rebecca) Smith, Audrey (Bryce) Pinckney, and Brittney Pinckney; grandchildren, Natalie, Nathan, Natasha, Ramona, Aiden, Madden, Everlee, Trentyn, Izabella, and a special baby girl on the way; siblings, Dennis (Denise) Pinckney, Mike (Karen) Pinckney, Dave (Deena) Pinckney, John (Kim) Hymen, Lisa Davis, and Heather (Owen) Vogel. Preceding him in death were his parents, and two siblings, Kevin and Connie.
