Melvin Guy, 78, a resident of Colfax for 60years, died Monday, March 15, 1993 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. Father Edward Susic, pastor of the church, conducted the services. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery north of Colfax. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax handled arrangements.
Jones-Willis American Legion post in Colfax conducted military graveside rites.
Memorial contributions are being accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret; a son, Mark of Colfax; a daughter, Monica (Mrs. Terry) Hysell of Colfax; three grandchildren; and sister, Thelma (Mrs. Keith) Keipp of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in infancy, two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Guy was a farmer and a carpenter. He was employed by Colfax High School as a maintenance worker until his retirement in 1979.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Colfax, the Colfax Kiwanis Club and the Jones-Willis Post of the American Legion in Colfax.
The son of William Booth and Emily Jane Jones Guy, he was born May 13, 1914 in Streeter, Illinois.
He was married to Margaret Gibson November 4, 1941 at Algona.
