Mrs. Susan Hubbard died quite suddenly last Tuesday at her home in the west part of this city from attacks of paralysis and apoplexy, aged 55 years. She was a native of Jasper county and had always lived here. In 1869 she was united in marriage to Joseph Scott. To this union one child, Ulyses W., was born. In 1837 (sic should be 1881) she was again married to Myer Hubbard, and of the five children born to them three survive, two having died in infancy. Mrs. Hubbard in early years became a member of the M.E. church. Though not an active member at the time of her death, she was a kind and loving mother and always ready to help a neighbor or friend in time of need.
Her children were all present at her bedside: Ulyses W. Scott, of this place; Sheridan Hubbard, of Des Moines, Mrs., Elizabeth Kaldenberg and Joseph Hubbard, of this place. The funeral was from the M.E, church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Stahl, and the interment was at McKeever cemetery.
