Gail S. Anderson Sr., 82, of the 3900 block of Cornell Avenue died of a heart ailment Monday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial at Vandalia Cemetery in Vandalia.
Mr. Anderson was born in Chariton and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was the retired owner of Anderson Well Boring, a Marine veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by three daughters, Birdie Harris of Pleasant Hill and Connie Edris and Mary Bickel, both of Des Moines; two sons, Robert of Lacona and Gail Jr. of Melrose; a sister, Mabel Bacon of La Mirada, Calif., 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
