R. Passmore Drowned In Des Moines River
Accident Happened Sunday afternoon On His Father’s Farm
Ross Passmore of this city was drowned Sunday afternoon in the Des Moines river near Runnells, Iowa, while he with others were in swimming.
Mr. Passmore was an employee of the Maytag factory at Newton and he with his wife and child lived in the Annette Wells house in this city. They had gone to the home of his father at Runnells, for the week end, and Sunday afternoon with his wife and others had gone to the Des Moines river for a swim, and the exact cause of his drowning was not learned definitely.
It took about three hours to locate the body by searchers who were called in to help, including county officials from both Polk and Jasper counties.
A pulmotor from Newton was brot to the scene and a doctor from Swan was present when the body was recovered, but life could not be restored.

Colfax – Ross Passmore of this city was drowned Sunday afternoon in the Des Moines river six miles southeast of Runnells, where he was swimming with his wife and another man.

Ross Passmore Rites to Be Held Tomorrow
Funeral services for Ross Passmore, 23 years old, who was drowned in the Des Moines river Sunday, will be held at the Vandalia church at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in the Vandalia cemetery. Mr. Passmore resided at Colfax, IA.
