Services Held Saturday For Luella Schnathorst
Luella E. Schnathorst, 70, of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Baxter, died Saturday morning, April 20, 1985, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, where she had been a patient for four days.
She was born the daughter of John and Elizabeth Brennick Wolken June 30, 1914, in Dillon. She received her education in the Dillon schools. On April 11, 1936 she married Louis Schnathorst in Dillon. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Laurel, where they operated the Schnathorst Truck Lines until his death in July of 1952. She operated the Marshalltown Freighters, which delivered Maytag appliances from Newton to Chicago for five years.
She was a member of the Dillon Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by 3 sons, Carlton and William, both of Laurel, Loren R. of Gilman, one daughter, Mrs. Jolene Moucoulis of Iowa City, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Alvin Wolken of buffalo and Charles Wolken of Dillon, and a sister Mrs. Laura Kacena, Marion.
Services were held Tuesday at Dillon Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Fred Zimmerman officiating. Burial followed in the South St. John’s Cemetery.
