October 22, 1951 - August 25, 2022

Roger Leroy Nolin, age 70 of Monroe passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at his home. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at 10:30 am at the Monroe United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends following the burial at Fairview Cemetery back at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Mission Cancer Center in Newton. The son of Harold L. and Anna Louise (Parr) Nolin, Roger was born on October 22, 1951 in Monroe. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1969. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On January 29, 1977, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Gean Noah at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Roger worked as an assembler at Van Gorps in Pella for 16 years and then went to work for Jasper County as a motor grader operator for 18 ½ years, retiring in 2012. Roger was a member of the Monroe American Legion, where he served as Post Commander for several years, the Monroe Fire Department for 20 years, the Monroe United Methodist Church and also served in the Iowa National Guard for 10 years.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Bonnie; three children, Erika Baumgardner, Adam Nolin and Andrew (Melissa) Nolin; four grandchildren, Trevor and Stella Baumgardner and Austin and Isabella Nolin; a sister, Linda (Bruce) Brummel; brothers, Gary (Becky), Dennis (Cheryl), and Allen; Mother and Father-in-law Ron and Vi Dehne; sisters-in-law Bettie Noah, Rita (Scott) Van Veen, Sue (Larry) Turner and brothers-in-law Billy (Paula) Noah and Kenny Noah and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Roger in death were his parents, sister-in-law Mary Nolin, and grandparents, Roy and Freda Nolin and Ernest and Lois Parr.
