Janis Elaine Ray (Milbourn) was born to Lloyd and Betty Milbourn (Davis) April 25th 1947, and grew up in Mitchellville, Pella and Colfax Iowa where she graduated Colfax High School in 1965. She was married to Phillip Ray in 1966, and was blessed by the Lord with two children, David and Anjanette Ray. Janis was a strong woman who endured hardships but delighted in the Lord and always strived to bring the family into Church, to be raised up and in Christ. She loved the Lord. She was a blessing and cherished caretaker of our great grandmother and later in life her mother as well. She enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors, friendships and was an absolute hoot. With a superb dry humor and at times perfectly sarcastic, she had quite the wits about her. She had fun winning in Trivia without having a college degree, and was quite competitive in the game of Pictionary. To honor her, we haven’t played Pictionary in fear of losing horribly.

Janis was divorced in 1991, and new chapters were opened in her life. She met and spent time with Charlie, her great friend and someone she cared for deeply. She went on many fishing expeditions in Minnesota, and enjoyed the outdoors and time with Charlie. Janis Ray was a mother, a great confidant, a source of love and protector of hearts. She was a strong woman who persevered through lifelong ailments, not yielding to them she raised us in love and wisdom. Janis will be missed dearly but we know by her profession of faith in our Lord Jesus she is with Him in glory, at peace in perfection and in the presence of the Almighty God.

Janis Ray left God’s creation on August 28th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her unborn son Paul, her parents Lloyd and Betty (Davis) Milbourn, her brother William Milbourn, and her friend and love Charlie. She is survived by her son David and his spouse Galina, her daughter Anjanette, her grandchildren Breeanna and Melissa of Anjanette, Sabrina and Cedric of David, her great grandchild Jayla of Breeanna, her nieces Natalie and Christy, and her nephew Adam.
