Clayton Beardmore, of Schaumburg, IL, died early Saturday, August 20, at a hospice facility in Elk Grove Village, IL, with his wife of 50 years, Barbara, at his bedside. Clayton would have been 76 years old on September 5. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Marvel. He is survived by his wife, his three children, David (Dawn) of Erlanger, KY, Elizabeth Beardmore daRosa (Tony) of Stevensville, MD, and Matthew (Ewelina) of Chicago, and his five grandchildren, Grace, Olivia, Leo, Izzy, and Adam, his nephews Lee (Kris) and Joe (Lisa), and great nieces, Molly and Katelyn, and his sister Joann (Beardmore) Scott of Huxley, IA.

Clayton was a Vietnam Veteran and a Bronze Star Medal (for valor) recipient. He proudly served 28 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves, achieving the rank of 1SG. During his service, he also earned a Good Conduct Medal Second Award, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Born and raised in Ira, IA, Clayton also served as the editor of the monthly Ira Star publication for many years leading up to his death.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, from 4-8 pm at Michaels Funeral Home in Schaumburg, IL (800 S. Roselle Road). Interment will take place Wednesday, August 24, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. (Time TBD).
