Jackie Lynn Rutz, 68, of Grinnell died on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials to the Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS) may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jackie, the daughter of Dr. L.D. and Mary Gloria (Cates) Norris, was born on September 28, 1953 in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1972. Jackie lived in many places throughout her adult life and had been back to central Iowa for the last 15 years. Jackie enjoyed the outdoors and had several jobs that included landscaping and grounds work. She also loved animals and was a lifetime member of the Humane Society of the United States.

Jackie is survived by her three children, Roman (Rachel) Avila of Peru, Betsy Rutz of Wausau, Wisconsin, and Gretchen (Nick) Zeimet of Gretna, Nebraska and her seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
