Gary Dean Meier, 62, of Newton, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be held at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory on Friday, August 5, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Gary, the son of Donald “Don” and Grace (Warnke) Meier, was born on March 5, 1960. He graduated from Greenfield High School and served his country as a U.S. Marine. Gary also spent several years working for John Deere but enjoyed visiting Prairie Meadows in his free time. Even though Gary didn’t have any pets of his own, he was a dog person and found joy in visiting with his neighbors and petting their dogs.

Gary is survived by his father, Don Meier of Newton; brothers, David (Susan) Meier of Waterloo and Dennis (Sheila) Meier of Greenfield; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Meier.
