William Castor Dies From Injuries Sunday Noon; John Castor Still Unconscious
Mr. and Mrs. Gilman Castor and son John and William Castor of Ira, Iowa were brought to the Colfax Sanitarium for treatment Wednesday evening after receiving serious injuries in a car accident.
They were driving to town in their Ford car and at the crossing near Baxter ran into the gas driven motor car which runs on the Great Western between Des Moines and Marshalltown. Mr. William Castor and the little three year old son were seriously injured, being unconscious when help arrived and Mrs. Castor’s arm was badly cut, and the father of the child, altho pinned under the car escaped with the least injuries altho badly bruised. All efforts were made to revive the young man, Mr. William Castor, but he never regained consciousness as he suffered a concussion of the brain, followed by brain fever.
He passed away Sunday morning and was laid to rest at Baxter Tuesday Mr. Castor held a remarkable war record and the American Legion of Mingo, Baxter and Colfax assisted in the services.
The little son is still unconscious the greater share of the time, but physicians feel he is slightly improved. The mother who received such a bad gash on her arm and was otherwise badly bruised is thought to be out of danger.
Mr. William Castor was 27 years old and was married in 1919 to Ina Hall. To this union was born one little daughter who is now two years old.
