Charley Davis Died May 29
Charley Davis, son of Hilbert and Leota Mae Wean Davis, was born at Olin, Iowa Dec. 27, 1899 and died May 29, 1983 at the Veterans’’ Hospital in Des Moines.
Services were held at the Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell Tuesday, May 31, 1983. Burial was in the Greencastle Cemetery near Mingo.
Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. In 1919 he came to Mingo and lived there until 1929. He was custodian of the Mingo School during the early 1920’s. He also ran an oil station in Mingo.
He was united in marriage to Cynthia Mae Cummings Aug. 5, 1920, and in 1929 they moved to Alleman, Ia., where they lived until two years ago when they became residents of the Madrid Home for the Aging.
He was custodian and bus driver for the Alleman School for several years. He also had a barber shop in Alleman.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia, three sisters and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
