Donald Eilert Funeral Rites Are Held Today
Funeral services for Donald D. Eilert, 44, of 614 Prairie Street, Grinnell, a former resident of Jasper County, were held today at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell.
The Rev. Russell K. Boersma, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the St. John’s Cemetery north of Newton.
Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell handled arrangements.
Memorial contributions to the Calvary Baptist Church Sunday School will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Donna; three children, David, Kristen and Karen; three brothers, Wayne of Monroe, Larry Eilert of Wenatchee, Wash., and Roy of Newton; and two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Thompson of Newton and Mrs. Clinton (Arelene) Rinehart of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Eilert was a member of the former St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church, north of Newtwon.
The son of William and Marie Schnathorst Eilert, he was born Mar. 6, 1932 at Newton.
He was married to Donna Scarbrough Sept. 27, 1952 near Kellogg.
He died Tuesday morning at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.
