Wilma Lester, 73, Dies Wednesday; Rites Saturday
Colfax – Mrs. Charles Francis (Wilma Marie) Lester, 73, a resident of Colfax for 50 years and a former resident of Newton, died Wednesday at the Clear View Manor in Prairie City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Colfax Christian Church.
The Rev. Robert Jones, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.
Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax is handling arrangements.
Survivors are three sons, Francis of Des Moines, Rex of Monroe and Rhalee of Colfax; a daughter, Mrs. Hiram (Judy) Thomas of Colfax; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Neils Thompson of Lakeland, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Mayln, and three brothers.
Mrs. Lester was a member of the Colfax Christian Church, president of the Christian Women Fellowship and chairman of the Missionary Organization, both of the church, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Golden Agers, Happy Hour Club, FRC and Jasper County Senior Citizens.
The daughter of Hans Wilhelm and Judith Elma Rayl Thompson, she was born July 24, 1903 in Newton.
She was married Feb. 4, 1922 in Newton.
