In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Comfort House of Pella.Dolores Faye Young, loving and beloved wife, mother, and neighbor, ascended to heaven on May 22, 2022. Her family was at her side as she made the peaceful transition at the Comfort House in Pella.
Born to Ruby and Ray Vanderwilt on June 30, 1935, Dolores was a Pella girl from the start. After graduating as the valedictorian of the Pella High class of 1953 she married the love of her life, Dwight Young of Monroe, in 1955. Together they set out on a wonderful adventure of 66 years which took them here and there, brought them three children, and created memories which will be cherished forever.
Dolores returned to Pella in 1994 after decades in California, and she quickly got back in the swing of the Pella way: devotion to her family, her church, and her community. An avid traveler and excellent cook, Dolores also loved gardening, studying the Bible, and knitting and sewing. Having lunch with her high school girl friends was another treat she always looked forward to.
Dolores will always be loved and remembered by: her husband Dwight of Pella; her three children—Carter Young of Missoula, MT, Ryan Young (LuLu) of El Cerrito, CA, Amy Savage (Matthew) of Oakland, CA; and three grandsons in California—Daniel, Matthew, and Zachary.
Dolores' memory will also be cherished by her two younger siblings: Karen Blom and Donald Vanderwilt, both of Pella.
May God reward Dolores' great faith with everlasting peace and contentment.
