Funeral services for James E. Koon, 52, of 1602 N. 2nd Ave. W, a resident of Newton since 1971, were held today, Nov. 6, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, west of Baxter.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in his name will be accepted.

He died of cancer Friday evening at Skiff Medical Center.

Survivors are his wife, Linda; a son, Jonathan Lowell, stationed in the army in Texas; two daughters, Melody Robin of Newton, and Susan Louise at home; Three grandchildren; his mother, Margaret Koon of Newton; a brother Craig Allen of Newton; and two sisters, Judy Bramble of Newton and Norma Jean Rudolph of Reasnor.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Lowell, June 7, 1986 and a sister Helen Lousie Koon.

Mr. Koon was an inspector at the Maytag Co. for 17 years and a member of the United Auto Workers, Local 997, was in the peacetime Navy.

The son of Lowell E. and Margaret L. Lowery Koon, he was born June 22, 1937 in Newton and attended Baxter schools.

He was married to Linda Sue Cavitt June 3, 1960 at Newton.

Mr. Koon had resided in Baxter, Newton, and Sioux City, prior to moving back to Newton in 1971.
