Linda Lee (Thompson) Long
June 14, 1950 ~ January 23, 2022 (age 71)

Linda Lee Long, 71, of Newton died on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at her home. No services are being held at this time. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Linda, the daughter of Oron and Colleen (Rexroat) Thompson, was born on June 14, 1950 in Newton. Linda loved animals and was a talented artist, making jewelry and paintings. She also enjoyed doing puzzles.

Those left to honor Linda’s memory are her daughter, Karri (Eric) Canakes of Waterloo; her grandson, Tylor Canakes; brother, Rick Thompson of Newton; her nieces and nephews, Kenneth (Laura) McCollum, John (Angie) McCollum, Veda McCollum, James (Tillena) Thompson, Lola (Keith) Richards, Johnny Thompson, Konny Sinton, Johnette Routh, Gary Bird, Jerry Bird, and Jackie White; many great nieces and nephews; and her close friend, Roxy Snook. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Steven Long; son, B.J. Haines; sisters, Rena Miller and Sandy Bird; brothers, Rex Thompson and John Thompson; and two nieces, Katie Whennen and Shandy Tuttle.
