Farmer Killed Last Evening In Fatal Fall
Walter Tramel, Prominent Clear Creek Farmer, Falls From Hay Mow Door and Instantly Killed
Walter Tramel, of near Ira, 44 years old, was instantly killed Wednesday evening about 6:30 o’clock when he fell from the door of the loft of his barn.
Threshers were at Tramel’s place and he had been at working the loft alone, mowing back the straw. As they finished work he was seen standing in the mow door, a distance of sixteen or eighteen feet from the ground. No one saw him when he fell and how he happened to fall is not known. Some of the men, however, did see him as he was about half way to the ground. He was dead when the men reached him.
Mr. Tramel was one of the most prominent farmers of Clear Creek township, residing two miles west of Ira. He has lived there all of his life and it was always a pleasure to him to do anything in his power which would further the interests of the community in which he lived. He was a man of convictions and he always stood for what he thought was right.
He owned a good farm and was regarded as one of the best farmers in that section of the county. He leaves to mourn his death his widow, two sons and two daughters.
No funeral arrangements have as yet been announced.
