Sarah Ann Webb was born at Chambersburg, Pa., November 19, 1838, and was the daughter of James and Margearetta Webb, and one of a family of five children, all of whom preceded her in death but a brother, G. M. Webb, of Marshalltown. She was married to David Reese at Yankee Settlement, Iowa, June 17, 1855, and came to Jasper county, settling within three miles of her late home, in Poweshiek township. Newton was then the nearest town, but most of the trading was done at Fort Des Moines, the round trip requiring two days.
